What exactly is Kindred Mums?
Kindred Mums is a matching service designed to help local mums in the Wellington and Kāpiti Coast areas find their "village". We move past the awkward small talk by matching you with other mums based on your kids' ages, your lifestyle, and your interests. -
Is there a cost to join?
We are currently in a grassroots phase! This means we are focused on building a high-quality community. Please check our 'Subscriptions' page for the most current information on memberships and introductory offers. It's really important to us that our service is available to all mums, so our subscriptions are very affordable. -
How many matches will I get?
Quality is our priority. We aim to provide you with up to five curated "mum matches" per month, however, it will depend on the compatible matches in your area. Because we hand-pick these based on compatibility rather than just a postcode, some months you might get one perfect match, and other months you might get several!
The Matching Process

When do I receive my matches?
Keep an eye on your inbox around the 15th of every month. This is when we send out our "Match Mail" with the details of your new potential mum mates. -
What information do you share with my matches?
To help you connect, we share your contact email and, if you’ve opted in, your social media link. We also may share some basic details like hobbies or commonalities you have shared in your questionaire. We do not share any contact information that you haven't given consent to. -
What if I don't "click" with a match?
That is totally okay! Not every match will be a "match made in heaven." The beauty of Kindred Mums is that you’re starting from a place of common ground rather than a cold start. If a connection doesn't spark, there’s no pressure - you’ll have a fresh set of matches to explore next month.
Safety & Privacy

How do you keep myself and my family safe online?
Safety is at the heart of everything we do. We only collect the information necessary to make a great match and never display your private details on a public-facing directory. We will also never share or sell your details with external forums outside of Kindred Mums. You are always in control of how much you share once you start talking to a new match. -
Can I join if I live outside of Wellington or Kāpiti?
We are currently focused on our local community, but we have big plans! If you’re in another part of Aotearoa, New Zealand, please join our waitlist so we can let you know as soon as we launch in your area. Link here - kindredmums.carrd.co -
How do we know our matches are legitimate and safe?
In our questionaire we ask for your email, phone number and a social media handle (Facebook or Instagram) in order to verify your details. We also ask for you to subscribe so only paying members will be on our matching database. We check over profiles to ensure they appear legit. We also highly recommend that subscribers only share the information they are comfortable with and meet initially in public places until they feel comfortable with home visits or less communal places.

How do you keep my personal information safe?
Your privacy is our top priority. We use Wix, a world-leading platform that comes with "enterprise-grade" security built-in. This means your data is protected by the same level of security used by major global companies, active from the second you visit our site.

Is my connection to this website secure?
Yes! You’ll notice a little padlock icon next to our web address. This shows that we have an SSL Certificate, which creates a secure, encrypted "tunnel" for your information. Any details you share with us are scrambled into a secret code so that no one else can read them.

Are my payments secure?
Absolutely. We never see or store your full credit card details. All payments are processed through systems that meet PCI DSS Level 1 standards - the highest security level in the payments industry. It’s the gold standard for preventing fraud and keeping your financial info private.

Who has access to my data?
Only those who strictly need it to help you find your "kindred" village. Our site is monitored 24/7 by a dedicated security team at Wix who watch for any suspicious activity, ensuring our community remains a safe space for everyone.

How do you handle my privacy rights?
We believe in total transparency. We only collect the information needed to match you with other mums, and we fully comply with privacy regulations. You always have the right to ask what data we have or to ask us to delete it at any time.
The "Mum Mate Date"

What should we do for our first meet-up?
Keep it low pressure! A coffee at a local café, a walk along the beach, or a quick play at the park are all great options. Remember, the other mum is likely just as nervous (and tired!) as you are.
Kindred Dads

What about dads? We need our support networks and communities too!
We totally get it! Everyone needs their people. Please bear with us while we are still in the grassroots phase of growing our mum communities, but dads you are absolutely on our minds and we'd love to build Kindred Dads in the not too distant future!
Cancellation

How can I cancel my subscription?
Once you allow clients to cancel a plan, you can direct them to their members area on your site to cancel their plan using the instructions below.
To cancel a plan through the Members Area:

Log in to the site.

Click your member profile at the top of the site.

Click My Subscriptions in the drop-down menu.

Click the More Actions arrow next to your plan.

Click Cancel Subscription.

Click Yes, Cancel to confirm.
